Xichang Ancient City is located in the central part of Liangshan Prefecture. Since ancient times, it has been an important town on the southwestern border of China. From the Qin and Han dynasties onward, successive regimes established prefectures, states, administrative offices, and appointed officials here. Today, this ancient city, with a history of over 2,000 years, occupies only the northeastern corner of Xichang City, with its three city gates serving as its most distinctive landmarks.
Nevertheless, the ancient city retains much of its original charm, and its basic layout remains well preserved. Major historical sites include the Western Han rammed-earth city ruins, the nameless Hanque (Han Dynasty ornamental gateway), the Tang Dynasty White Pagoda, the Nanzhao Jingzhuang King Temple, the Luoluo Xuanweisi (ancient local administrative office), and the Datong Gate.Opening hours: Open all year round, all day.
